sata bottleneck?

the hitachi250gb sata2 drive just came in and before i do anything i would like to know if having a sata150 with a sata300 will it run at their own speed or will run with the slower drive?

if no then i'll install both drive

if yes then i'll just copy the content to the new drive

No but even if it did it doesn't matter. Your drive wont touch SATA150 speeds let alone SATA300

Notice how any common drive benchmarking program (as well as, say, Windows) recognizes a RAID0 array as a drive

Well that's kind of the point of a RAID0 But yeah, I try to convence people that drives still aren't capable of going the full interface speed. I "SHOULD" get 300MB/s, but my max speed thus far is 216MB/s

And even that speed is not sustained

Nor is your 300 I don't remember what the sustained was for my system. I think mine was just around 110MB/s Whatever, it loads Doom3 maps in seconds ;P
