Hey guys, I have everything ready to go in my new project!! One thing I forgot is my old Dvd burner was IDE w/ the gay ribbon cabling. I want to go completely SATA!! Not only does it look better, but those big ribbon cables could restrict air flow. Also I was wondering if you need a special SATA cable?? I seen on newegg that someone posted a review saying they bought a new Cd/DVD sata cable. Is it just me or is there one type of SATA cable? A link would be great!! Also, please dont post the link if you havent tested it. No offence but I would like a link from someone who has tested the device and approves of its performance. Also I will get pics up of the new system ASAP! Thanks for you continued support!

I'm trying to work out what your asking.

Are you wanting a cable that will connect your old IDE dvd burner to a SATA connection?

they're the same cables, some are just rated 2.0 compliant to gaurantee that they work

i think sata II cables need to be <18 inches, other than that, it doesnt matter

BTW i'm using the cheapo $3 18" sata cables from newegg with the 2-in-1 molex power adapter and sata connection with my 18x samsung sata burners, and everything works great.

SATA burners dont really have any speed advantages over PATA, but its nice being able to use both drives at full speed without bumping into each other.

I can be burning files from 2 different harddrives, at 16x, using all 4 sata channels on my computer, with 0 buffer problems.

Yeah, but SATA removable disk drives are still a little expensive... you can buy a great IDE DVD burner for $30, but I think the cheapest SATA CD burner I've seen is still $40.

Wow... prices have dropped a bit since I checked about a month ago... lite-on have a 20x SATA DVD burner for $35 free shipping. I might have to pick one up.
