sata drive as slave to backup data as harddisk is not loading os

My friend has a sata drive and drive won't load the os. It just sits on the underscore blinking and nothing. I fix the boot config from the windows cd and restart and it says ntldr is missing. My computer has sata connections so how can I connect his harddrive up to mine as slave and access it from my harddrive to copy the files off to backup and then just reformat his harddrive and copy files back.

Just plug it into a Sata port and make your you main drive is set to 1st. in the boot order. There is no M/S with Sata drives.
