Sata Driver for XP pro

Does anyone know where I can get a SATA driver for Windows XP pro?
I am trying to install it on my lappy again, But I for the life of me can not figure out how to find another SATA driver (dad fixed it last time, cant do that now.) The laptop's BIOS does not have a ACHI/compatibility mode, so it does not install. Already looked at HP's support and drivers. Since the laptop was native to Windows 7, it does not have the Sata drivers.

Is there a BIOS update on the website? Just yesterday I went to install 7 on a netbook, but had to update the BIOS to make it compatible. Then again, there was also a SATA driver on the site. But it wouldn't hurt to try that.

Its running the latest BIOS. Just updated it at the release date (1-25-11). It doesn't have ACHI/compatibility mode. No BIOS driver either.

Just Google running SATA on XP . The problem installing XP on a W7 notebook is not a BIOS issue it is the lack of native SATA support on XP itself.

You will need to create the image file of your XP CD and then in that image file load the SATA drivers and burn that image file on the blank CD disk in order to install XP.

I hate BIOSES which do not have the COMPATIBILITY support by the way

I know that. I am looking for a link or some sort that someone knows to work that I can use to get a SATA driver to run XP.

i believe u need the AMD 785G driver. that's what controls the sata ports on the HD4200s
i couldn't find it at amd or hp though. and i gotta jet; if you can't find it by the time i get back i'll help you look. :)

good luck

Just slipstream SP3 to your XP cd using nLite.
SP3 is on the disk. It still needs a Sata driver.

I cant do much searching ATM, Im going off a 56Kb dial up connection. It takes around 5 minutes to bring up the google home page. that gets old, especially when you arent sure of what your looking for by word.

would it be possible to maybe but a SATA to Pata adapter, and just plug it up to my desktop and load it as a Pata drive??

HP G61-336NR.
It has ran Xp pro_64 SP2 before. I had to replace the HDD, so I lost the old install. The disk that I have here is a SP3 disk, and it reads that it needs a SATA driver when I try to run it.

This exe. should work. Just extract the SATA drivers or slipstream them onto your cd.

that's what i was looking for. how did u find it lol :D

ok, so how do I slipstream it onto the disk in Ubuntu? I use Brazero to burn the image and SP3 onto the disk.

you need a program to do this. In windows i use nLite. i don't know of anything for linux. i just did a search for slipstream + linux and a bunch of stuff came up that looked really complicated.
