Sata drivers for Laptop

Guys,

Im in need of Sata srivers for my Laptop in siggy so i can install Xp Pro...i cant find them anywhere.

I did manage to stumble cross a link from someone else who was looking for the same drivers for my laptop but the link was dead

if anyone else knows any good sites please link me up :good:

what mobo is in the laptop?

edit: nvm found it, gimme a sec and i'll lookup the drivers.
edit2: he's got the SiS968 southbridge need to find ahci drivers for that... can't find it.

Whats the exact model number? There are 3 models in that series.

i'm giving up, found about 5 different linux drivers for ahci...
maybe just the hdd to ide mode and install xp?

I would assume its this one, but its for the putting on a floppy, so you'll have to slipstream into a new install cd.

that's a intel southbridge driver... he's got SIS

From what I can find out about that laptop he has an intel chipset.

Hey thanks for the replies all....just got back in from work.

Okay so this is the model number of my laptop..

Asus X58L-AP020A

Yes im pretty sure its got an Intel chipset...under the laptop it says motherboard = x58l

maybe just the hdd to ide mode and install xp?

Would this cause any issues? would it slow the laptop down?
worth a try if i cant get the sata drivers

doing that should be fine, That's what I did with the laptop in my sig, I had to change how the hard drive was presented so XP would recognise it, it's been fine with me and that was over a year ago!

ahci would in theory make your hard drive run faster. Never checked it for myself though

I've never been able to compare it really, my laptop came with Vista... and XP is faster than it, so I put that on straight away. I don't suppose there's a huge difference, though there must but some difference or they wouldn't have made it in the first place!

I done this in the bios..and now it instals fine....thanks
