SATA drives as removable devices?

All of my SATA drives, two HD's and a DVD ROM, are showing up as removable devices under the safely remove hardware. I'm running XP, and have checked for MOBO updates, but there don't seem to be any.. :confused:
 
Thats not right, because Before I re-formatted they were not listed as removable. Is there some free software which I can check my MOBO drivers with?
 
It worked fine. I wiped my computer, reinstalled windows. Now shows up wrong. SATA drives only. MOBO is a M2N-E SLI. Drivers were downloaded just today from website. Still happening.
 
Windows may have been using legacy drivers and not SATA drivers. It displays as a removable device because SATA is made to be Hot swapable and you can changing on the fly (like USB)
