Sata Harddrive

I just got in my first sata harddrive, and it has both a 4pin molex power, and a sata power option. Which one should I use? Does it matter? BTW, Sata is new technology to me.

Don't listen to Omega. He doesn't know what he's talking about. Of course it matters. Using the SATA one gives the HDD more power, enabling you to overclock it higher.

haha. Sorry Omega... Just teasing you.. :P

Omega is right. It doesn't matter. Use whatever you have. Preferably the SATA one if you have one on your PSU, as it keeps the molex free for something else.

When I first saw your first read your post i was wondering what the heck you were talking about :P

Well I have all molex with some adapters to sata. I didn't know if the sata gave more power or what. Thanks for the responces guys. :)

You mean you don't OC your hard drive? I've got my 7200RPM up to 7459RPM! :P

All things being equal, I'd use the SATA power connector but if your PSU doesn't have them then the molex is fine.

Well i can use the adapters if that will be best, but if it won't help anything, then i'm not. I'd rather not use them b/c adapting looks tacky. :/

It won't make any difference one way or the other. The adapters are only for drives that don't have molex connectors.

I believe cromewell was simply saying that if you have SATA connectors coming directly off the power supply, to use those. That way you have extra molex connectors if you need them.
