Sata Hd

I have an older computer I am working on, and I am trying to install a SATA HD it is a western digital 400GB. I have bought a pci 2 SATA converter and now when I am booting in the main startup it stops and says the mass storage device on the pci slot is not initialized. when i go into the BIOS there is nothing to change. And if I go into the device manager in windows the drive shows up but in the properties it says it is not initialized... I tried unplugging the IDE Hard drive and still nothing. Does anybody know what else I can do?????

That worked for in windows but it still comes up with an error in the startup screen minor problem though. thank you

I don't know if there is anything that can be done with that error. I have an PCI to IDE expansion card that I've messed with and it'll give me all kinds of crazy errors/messages during start up. Just ignore it.
