SATA II vs SATA III for a home server?

My parents have so many files spread across multiple computers that It would be a good idea to make a home server... For storing documents, backups and media. Do you think it would be a better idea to use SATA II or III drives?

If you will be transferring files over the network then its not really gonna matter cause you will be limited by the network speed.

As follow-up questions,

Can you run RAID on a server? Linux server or WHS server. (Raid 10?)

Also, What would you Suggest for Hard Drives? I need 1½ TB for sure.

Caviar Green drives by WD? or their AV models?

It all depends on the motherboard you use and if it supports raid. If your going to raid then you may want to invest in the Raid edition drives by WD or the Caviar blacks. The AV drives should be good as well, just get the higher cache ones.

And Since I love asking questions, What kind of case do you suggest?
I think I'll be using THIS psu though.

Like I said in another topic of mine, I like that G5 styled Linkworld case but it is rather low quality...

You must be wanting a quiet server if your wanting a fanless power supply. As far as the case goes, it doesn't have to be anything fancy as you won't be moving it around alot. Any inexpensive atx case should work.

I think I might use the elite 370.
But I cant go to the CM website because google is freaking stupid and thinks it is an attack site.

Norton 360 is telling me that it is perfectly safe... *sigh*

I want to see what fans It can use. I would like to put in some big, slow fans in it.
