Is it possible to have an external PATA harddrive (from my old pc) connected via a harddrive enclosure with a ubs hookup to a computer that uses an interal SATA harddrive? Will I have to download a driver for this, if it is possible? Im using windows xp pro on the new pc. The old pata is windows xp home. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Yeah, its probably done all the time. when upgrading from an ide drive to a Sata drive. No, you shouldn't have any issues.

Yea, the type of hard drives inside your machine has nothing to do with what you can and can't plug in externally. As long as both the enclosure and HD work fine, you should be alright. You shouldn't have to install any drivers, Windows usually automatically detects it and installs the normal mass storage device driver it usually uses for USB sticks and external HDs.
