SATA Master with IDE Slave

I have installed a WD SATA 200GB and loaded XP.
Works great by itself but if I plug in the WD IDE 80GB it won't boot.
Now I'm aware that other people have had this problem but I can't seem to find the remedy.

One guy did suggest the BIOS can be set to boot from the SATA drive but I couldn't find that setting ability, only the setting to select either HD, CDROM or floppy etc., not specifically a SATA HD or IDE HD.

I've tried setting the IDE to slave etc but this doesn't make any difference.
I've tried deleting the partition from the IDE so it couldn't boot and I got a boot error.

What motherboard do you have? Both drives should be master, they are on different channels. In the bios there is a section where you can choose boot order so just change it so your sata drive is checked first or remove the WD drive from the boot list.

Problem Fixed

Thanks for the reply Cromwell.
I did however get the problem resolved.
There isn't any setting in the Gigabyte Pro2000 BIOS to seperately select a SATA boot over an IDE boot but this is overcome by manually selecting the SATA port instead of leaving it as default which is auto.
If left as auto, the IDE drive is automatically selected as the boot drive when connected but if the SATA is set to manual Port 0 or Port 1, whichever is used, then it will remain as the boot drive.
