SATA port must be bad

I started a thread in "Desktop Computers" about not being able to get my computer to detect new HDD and I had a friend come over today who knows alot more bout computers than I do and we think the newly refurbished mobo has bad SATA ports....I think I will get a PCI SATA adaptor and try that..Anyone know any potential problems I may run into with this? Alot cheaper to get a card than another HDD...And the drive does good in another computer so I know its not the drive,or cable....See my other post in DESKTOP COMPUTERS....Will I have any problems with using a card like booting to the HDD through the card?....

Nevermind all...Just figured it out after doing a forum search...All I had to do is set a jumper to roll the WD HDD bask to SATA 1....Live and learn I guess....
