Sata ports connected with sata cable. Why??

I have come across a via chipset p4 775 socket motherboard where two sata ports are connected with a sata cable directly.

Can anybody have any idea about this matter / connection ??

Where you plug in sata connections in motherboard, there are two that are both connected to each other?

If that is the case, then i don't think there's any connection being made. I just think that someone left it in there. No worries.

It is simply as below bros......

Sata 1 on the mobo -------> sata cable one end + sata cable other end -------> sata 2 on the mobo
