ghost Active Member Dec 15, 2005 #1 why does SATA 2 say SATA 3.0Gb/s ?? I thought the data transferrate is 300 mbps ?, Ive tryed googling but can find a straight forward answer. Also while im on the topic is SATA 2 alot better than normal SATA ? (Even against a RAPTOR 10k ?) Cheers for your time ppl

Geoff VIP Member Dec 15, 2005 #3 3Gb's / 8 = 375MB's. Its actually 3 Gigabits, not bytes. Yes, SATA 2 is better than SATA, and according to some benchmarks a SATA 2 drive outperforms a Raptor 10K.
