SATA to IDE

Hey guys.
I am trying to connect a SATA laptop hard drive to a 44 pin IDE interface. I have all the pinouts for both but don't know which to connect to which. I don't want to buy an interface so am planning on rewiring to suit. It is for a home made external drive.
Thanks for any guidance.

You'd probably be better off simply buying a new SATA enclosure. It'd end up being about as much as the converter, probably be more reliable, and would look better. Plus the converters aren't the smallest things around, so I doubt they'd fit very well in a typical enclosure.

Either a new enclosure or the converter can be found at Newegg.

i would have to agree with the other guy...those things are so cheep these days that its not worth the hastle. but if that is something youd like to do for your self...at least make sure that you use the right voltage and amperage...and you should be fine....
