SATA vs EIDE, huh?

My Dell Dimension 8400 has a clicking SATA hard drive that goes blue screen on me. I went and bought a new HD, but it's an EIDE. I havn't opened the box yet. What is the difference between the two? Will it work as well, or should I return it? Thanks!

They are completely different types of I/O. You're Dell will most likely have a free EIDE that you could use, but because it is set up to boot from SATA, and also SATA drives are better and about the same price, I would take it back for a SATA if it's not too much trouble.
