My parents are thinking about getting satellite t.v. and I'm looking into satellite internet. Dose any one know how much it cost and how to get it.

i know that around here, it is freakin expensive. its like 70 bucks a month whereas cable is about 40 and dsl is about 30. and the installation charge was about 300 i think.:eek:

It is also Slower than DSL and Cable..
 
Here believe it or not my 384kbps internet connection is the equivelant of $70
The installation about 5 months ago was $500
 
Dont get satellite internet, if you can get dsl or cable in your area, get that. Im not sure who your going with, but i know for DirecWay you get a fairly slow speed of around 300K-500k, and they cap your download. And the monthly charge and installation is expensive as hell!
 
Apokarteron do you have satellite Internet?
Cable and DSL are not available in my area and I have been using dial-up for way to long.

In his sig it says he has ADSL.

Are there any plans that you've heard of about getting DSl in your area? And second, do you live in the middle of the forest with trees surrounding your house?
 
No one said anything about the price of the equipment which is very expensive and also your ping time will realy be out of this world!

I know but when 4 people are fighting to get online with dail-up something hase to be done.
 
Do you live in the middle of the woods where you cant even get a signal? I wouldnt think its worth it.

What you could do is just by another phone line or 2, it will be way cheaper.

it is the exact same speed cuz you gotta have dial-up modem to use satelite internet

dont know what its like where you live, but for me it uses USB.

but you got to have a dial-up modem for uploads not for download, that's how it's in croatia, but i love my 512/128 adsl connection
 
exactly what he said ^ uploads are fast because it comes from the satelite, but the uploads using a dial up modem.
 
never knew that, i just heard from DirecWay that all you need to have satellite internet is a USB 2.0 Port. Still, satellite is a waste of money, your better off getting another phone line.
