Saving energy

I have 3 computers and i only use them wen i need to but i feel like i use so much energy on them, is there anyway to prevent this? or any energy saving methods that you's know of???

Depending on what you do on them, you could underclock them, that would save on energy usage, of course it would slow them down as well. Or if you leave them on for any length of time, you can alter the power options in the control panel.

turn them off when you dont use them...

You can download a program called cpu idle extreme. It saves a lot of power for computers, and is great for laptops.

Lower brightness levels, make use of power stepping/limiting, have them off at all possible times, turn off the monitor at least. Unplug expansion cards/devices when not in use.

What can also help with power is room lighting. I have 160watts in my ceiling fan, but during the day time opening the window is just as bright. At night, all that power is WAY too much. So I unplugged 3 of the 4 bulbs, and a 40watt bulb is more than enugh for lighting purposes in my room.

Invest in dark screens for the windows in your house. They stop heat from getting in but allow light in, kind of like a 1 way mirror. You save on AC costs and keep your room much cooler during the hot day.

i do video edting and just general tasks and i always turn them off when i not using them. i just feel like im wasting so much energy and i dont need to be.
