saving your settings during shutdown

Hi all!running xp professional ,lately noticed I'm loosing all my passwords and login names after shutting down the computer.During the day when I close the laptop and it goes into" rest "everything is still ok.But during shut down I have noticed that the saving your settings"" comes on it only shows that for about 2 seconds then carries on the shut down process.
If my memory serves me right I think that during the" saving your settings" spot it stayed there for maybe 10 seconds or more.Could this be the reason it's not saving properly when shutting down?If so how can I extend that" saving your settings" time? Thanks for any help in advance:confused::confused:

Are you talking about usernames and passwords for websites, if that's the case then your cookies are probably being erased for some reason when they weren't before.

That's correct.I use mozzila firefox as my browser, would it be a setting there,or else where I could change?thanks

Yeah, it would be a setting somewhere in that which might have gotten changed. Sometimes this can happen when you move to a new version or do an update.

Thankyou for your reply.I have updated recently and that very well be the culprit. When I look under tools it says remember my passwords for sites, keep my history for 90 days etc.All looks good, but under tools clear my data, browsing history is checked and I can't seem to remove the check mark, this may be my problem?please help:(

Your browsing history shouldn't have anything to do with it. There is a setting somewhere on there that talks about clearing private data either when ever you ask it to do so or when you exit firefox. Make sure saved passwords is no. Checked because I'm pretty sure it's on the list. Also make sure cookies isn't checked. History shouldn't technically make any difference.
