Weird. i just switched on my laptop today and i got some weird scan lines on the monitor. i rebooted and they were gone. is this normal or a sign that the hardware is about to 'deteriorate' (go bust) and that i should prepare my warranty documents for an exchange?
I bought the laptop on December 2004, a similar model can be seen at:

I've talked to some people on IRC and some have said that they have experienced similar faults with their laptops (different brand). They aren't persistent though, so it isn't a big deal.
My warranty will last until December 2005. My intention is to observe whether the problem will arise again. If it does then maybe I should do something about it.
Is this the right approach? Has anyone had a similar experience in the past? Any suggestions will be appreciated.
