Scrambled picture

Hi, i have an Nvidia 7900 gt and a 22 in. Acer monitor and both have been problem free since i got them. For some reason that i have yet to figure out, my screen will become scrambled whenever i load games. This is only somewhat random as far as i can tell. It will consistently screw up the picture when my comp has been on for a while and i have other apps running, and never scrambles when i freshly boot up. It will also scramble the picture briefly whenever any media player is opened, but this is not permanent like it is when i open games.

This all started all of a sudden and i can't figure any causal evidence for it. The video card fan is still running and I updated my video driver but it didn't help.

any suggestions? thanks in advance

How high are you trying to set the screen resolutions in the games themselves? While lcd may see 1600x1400 display settings in games and where possible in players generally has to be set lower. While the 19" widescreen here sees 1440x900 a game will be set at 1152x768.

Another thing to look at besides a possible to remove and reinstall a current update fresh is the refresh rate set in the display properties. If you see that at 60hz you may have to raise it to 75hz or down from that to 60hz.

If none of that works you may be looking at a card failing on you. Unless defective lcd displays generally last longer then the old crts seeing 5 times more life!
