Yestreday, I was given a 2 yo Emachines T6410. and I am planning on building my own gaming rig in a few months. but I'm not that good of a judge of computer parts. so I am wondering are they any parts in it worth keeping?

(PS : I think the lady who gave it to me said the hard drive was fried. Thats why I'm scrapping it.)

Case (it is a mini tower, nice design but if you want a high end rig in it the ventilation isn't really great for high heat dissipation without mods and drive space is limited.)

DVD/CD drives

Other than that the MB is a socket 754 so you can't really put much more CPU in it than you have. Even with a working HDD and 1gig ram, at best you are going to have no better than a P4 class single core. PSU is really too weak to do much more than what it is.

Opinions will differ, but if you want to play around with it, it will run XP fairly efficiently or one of the lighter linux distros. I wouldn't put much into it unless you have extra parts around that need a home.
