Scratched crt

i was wondering if there is any way to "repair" or polish out a scratch on my crt screen? it's not very deep, but it's pretty annoying..

Ouch... I know how that feels. Used to have a 21" CRT that I scratched the anti-glare with my fingernail while cleaning! I searched the web to find a solution but the only thing I found was that I could send it back to the manufacturer to have the screen first cleaned (remove anti-glare) and then have the anti-glare put back on. This would cost much more the the CRT was worth :(. If you have actually got a scratch in the glass then I doubt there is anything you can do. I sold my CRT and got a nice 19" CRT which I used up until I bought my LCD.

oh well. that's about all i could find, too... kinda hopin i could polish it out or something. i got a nice 19", but im usin this 21" because it's so much... bigger :)
ill just learn to live with it. thanks

Well good luck with that :). I tried to live with mine but it drove me up the wall. I would imaging if you tried to polish it out that it would prob. make it worse. Does the light from behind the scratch seem ultra bright? Mine was.

it looks like a thin streak of liquid... for the first couple of days i noticed it i kept tryin to wipe it off heh. then, sadly, i noticed it was never coming off :\

i had a similar problem with my old monitor (not that my current one is much newer lol), i found that at certain angles it would magnify the pixels behind giving me red, green and blue lights on the scratch, i found that slightly changing the angle of the monitor would make the magnification "go away". this is the only solution i found that would make the problem bearable.

also, dont try to polish it out; in order to do this with glass it would have to be quite an abrasive action, this would only make the distortion of the scratch become spread over a larger area.
