screeming computer

Hello, I am new to this forum, but have a strong passion for pc knowledge. I am experiancing something I have never delt with before. My computer seems to be doing well in all functions, whowever... now when I play Battlenet online, it makes this aweful sound. It sounds as though an alarm clock is going off. It stays on untill I turn the game off. I am only guessing this must have something to do with my graphics cards. I have a Nvidia card.
The game does not lock up or shut down, but the alarms sound is so loud. It comes from the cpu. Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this?
Thanks a bunch,
wolfles

Are you sure its the CPU and not the system speaker?

Are you pressing shift lots? If you press it 5 times in a row, sticky keys or something like that appears.

Does the sound come from the speakers or the CPU? If it's the CPU, perhaps it's the system buzzer/speaker? If so, it very well could be a BIOS setting signaling overheating, or some other error. My PC makes false alarm buzzer noises running a program called SpeedFan.

Yeah, first we need to know where the sound is comming from...

An odd thing I've noticed is my machine makes weird noises when I use Photoshop. Nothing really loud, but it's definetly comming from within the machine. I'm not sure if it's the processor or heatsync, but it happened with both the Abit and Epox boards I've had... I even remember hearing it with my old 1.4GHz Athlon...(which now has a trusty home amoung the members here ;P )

My graphics card fan makes a high pitched squeal when it speeds up, maybe it is that.

Well the bios things sounds possible. The sound is coming from the tower. The tower does not feel exceptionaly hot or anything. But it sounds like a very loud alarm, not a buzzing , or a fan humming. But a constant loud high pitched alarm going off. Makes me think that is is going to blow up or something. I would like to fix this myself if possible, but as you can see, I dont know what is broken. LOL
Thanks for your replies.

OH, one last thing, I dont have to play the game more than 10 minutes now for it to start, and as I said earlier, the only way to get it to stop screaming is to turn the game off.
