this has been fairly recent, i just installed a new graphics card (geforce 6200 oc) and i got a new monitor (apple 23") and since the screen has been black during start up, all the way until i have to log into windows.

also, the screen has very small lines, usually white, that appear in random pictures. theyre about 1X4 pixels, and my computer freezes up when i try to play a video in media player. this all happened immediately after i installed the card. im not sure if its the card though, ive scanned with norton a couple times and it didnt find anything.

thanks, palidon

Are you sure you installed the correct / latest version drivers for that specific graphics card? Do you see any of the POST (Power On Self Test) and BIOS information when you first switch on?

Go into the BIOS with your onboard card and disable onboard VGA, then select your card interface as the startup display, (PCI-AGP-PCI-E)

See if that works.

how the heck do i get into bios? F1 isnt working :(

edit, lol, sorry, im sonewhat noobish, im learning!

It can be various different keys, f9, f11, delete. Try pressing one of those three. However if you are a beginner I wouldn't recommend playing about in your bios. Maybe get someone you know a little more experienced? Or read the manual on it, in depth first.

ehh, im not a beginner, i know a decent amount and its not like im about to go changing stuff around in the bios (I.E. turning the processors clockspeed up..) but ive never gone into bios, i have never had a reason to so i didnt.
