Screen flickers when i close lid

On my vista laptop when i close the lid and open it the screen goes crazy and i have to reboot,any suggestions of what it could be?
 
don't close the screen :P

but you can change what your pc does when you close the screen
you can set it standby, turn off screen etc etc...
it's somewhere in your configuration option under power management of some sort.
don't have vista on me, so i can't check.
 
Sounds to me like an intermittent connection between the screen and the motherboard; either a bum ribbon cable or where the cable is connected at the screen or motherboard is not quite right. If the computer is less than a week old or something, I'd be looking at an exchange where you bought it. Otherwise you're probably looking at warranty service.
