Screen freezing+auto restarting

I got a problem that I had never seen before recently; as computer load into desktop, screen freezes after a few sec and then computer totally frozen, after another 10 sec or so computer automatically restarts. After some investigation, this problem, it seemed, only happens when I installed my the video driver(a disc that came with the video card I bought). Otherwise computer works fine as usual, except I can't play games =/
And I don't think it is a virus since I even tried reformatting the computer...
The video card I'm using right now is NVIDIA GeForce4 Mx 4000.
If anyone can figure out a solution to this, I would greatly appreciate it.

Edit: I also have gone into a blue screen that says something(video driver?) stuck in an infinite loop. Either video driver or hardware itself...

Try booting into Safe Mode, and rolling back the driver.

what does it mean to rolling back the driver?

Go to the control panel- system- hardware- device manager- find your video card-click on driver- then click on roll back driver, then go to Nvidia and download there drivers for your card!

Why send him to nvidia ? His specs mention an ATI X1600 PRO video card ?

Thats what it says on his sig, but thats probably another pc because he is talking about Nvidia vid card
