Screen is now always blank?

I had my computer working with this monitor fine for years and now all of the sudden when I turn it on, the screen never changes... it's always black. I did notice a new beep sound that lasts about 1s when you the desktop on.

Medion Desktop running XP sorta old maybe 5-8 years old. Very new monitor flat screen lcd all that good stuff. I hooked up another monitor and it does the same thing.

With that beep, it's the mother board that's letting you know a piece of hardware has failed. Try testing the RAM by taking one out and leaving the other. Also, if it's connected to the video card, take the video card out and plug your monitor directly to the motherboard (and/or the other way around. See if that helps..
 
Awesome thanks so much. Turns out it was the ram but surprisingly it was the newer ram that burned out (I guess it got to hot at some point in time or short circuited or something).

Ok wtf, I thought I had it working and then all of a sudden the computer shuts it self down when I'm not on it but the power light still stays on like the computer is on but the screen is black. So I messed around with the ram again and kept getting those motherboard beeps. Finally I got it to where it doesn't beep but it still shows a black screen. I'm lost...
 
Hmm. And you did check all your connections from your moniotor/computer? Is it a graphics card you're running off of or is it onboard?
