Screen Resolution??

Right now my screen resolution is at 1024 by 768 pixels. Which I think is too large. I need to look around my screen to see it all when I could just set it to a lower resolution and see everything without looking around the screen. The problem is when I set to a lower resolution it makes everything looked squished(Long vertically). How come? This didn't happen on my old computer.

What kind of monitor do you have? CRT or LCD? 1024x768 will look larger on an LCD than it does on a CRT so that may have something to do with it depending on what you have.

I believe its a CRT. I remember my dad rambling on about on LCD's make computer game grpahics look fuzzy so we got the other one. Must be CRT.

I tried to take a screen shot of the differences but the pictures won't show the difference. It looks normal

i would try reinstalling the videocards drivers and see if that works.

I don't know how to do that. And if it requires reformatting my whole comp. im not going too.

Also, my dad ordered it so everything was installed and we just had to hook up. We didn't install a video card or windows XP or internet. So yeah...

I'd wager that you're selecting 960 * 600, which is the next resolution below 1024 * 768 on many CRT monitors. This is the wrong ratio, move the slider down to the next setting (800 * 600), and all should be fine.
