Screen Size (Desktop Wallpaper)

Anyone know what is the exact or best size picture (in mm or inches and resolution) to use as a desktop wallpaper, it will be created in Photoshop... for the following details:

17" LCD monitor
1280 x 1024 pixels

You seem to have answered your own question. The highest quality image you could create is that of your maximum screen resolution, 1280x1024. Bear in mind any image you create can be made into a wallpaper, and the computer will stretch the image to fit the screen. If an image that size is used, there's be no stretching.
