screenshot program?

anyone know any decent screenshot programs
what i'm lookin for, is something that i can just push one button, or a small combination of buttons, and it automatically takes a screenshot of either the window that is open or the whole screen
see, i go on instant messengers quite a bit and chat with family on webcam. and i'd like to find a program(porferably freeware, but i am willing to pay if it's resonable), so that i can keep some of the pictures that come across the cam

i know by pusshing the 'print screen' button, it copies the whole screen to the clipboard, but then i have to paste it into a program and save it. and then, especially when my little 3 year old niece is on, i usually miss a lot of cute stuff

anyone know of any programs like this?
 
i'll have to try it when i get home. i'm stuck at work. on a SATURDAY!!!

i think i have tried it before but i'm not sure. i've tried a couple of them and there was one or two that i liked, but i forget which ones they were.
i had a couple that you had to like click a drag a box over what you wanted to take a screenshot of and then select the folder to save it to. and that was just annoying.

i'll try to get to looking for one tonight too

my internet has been acting really funky, so the only time i get to be online is at work

and they watch every site you go to, so, i gotta stick to computer related-sites
 
well just for your information, u can press alt + 'print screen' and ull get the copy of only the window you have active.

Simple solution

Hi,
if you want to make screenshot of active window only(which has focus) you simply do that by ALT+PRINTSCREEN(button). Then past it to MS Paint for example. If you want to make a screenshot of entire screen push only PRINTSCREEN. Then do the same thing as in "active window" case.


SOMETIMES THERE IS NOTHING TO SOLVE
 
we all know this, but the point of the thread was to find a program where you press a buttton, and it saves the picture for you, instead of having to paste it into paint, and saving it all the time.
 
yeah
copy and pasting and then saving is a big time pain
it takes way too much time
plus, i'm very lazy!
