hey everyone,
well ill get straight to the point. i have an old setup, AMD thunderbird 1.2ghz with 384 mb of SD ram. well my brother ran with this computer beautifully for a few years. but now its really screwed up.
first the monitor wouldnt come up, and there were 3 beeps at startup. usually a hardware failure, so i took it to a comp shop, he checked the ram everything, and it ran great at the shop, but windows booted up with a problem. u clicked ok and it would reset. well, i took it home, and booted with an XP pro cd, to do a fresh re-install. i deleted the partition, and entered to install on the 40 gig free unpartitioned space. it would format it in NTFS or something, but it would reach 48% then tell me the hardware could be damaged (HDD i presume) i did no think this is possible as it ran well at the shop, apart from that error.
well next i selected a'quick' NTFS format, and it ran with no problems, installing windows and all. i was in the process of installing all the drivers for the PCI/GPU devices. i installed the sound card (VIBRA 128) and played a song to see if it worked. well WMP would just freeze. so i restarted. then wen the Windows XP loading logo came up it just freezed... i held the OFF button for 4 secs to turn it off,and it just rebooted, wtf? so i have to manually disconnect the power from the power supply.. does anyone no wat might be rong? could it be a f***ed HDD? thanks in advance
EDIT: well, it manage to load in about 10 minutes, but i try to play an audio file and nothing works, it just freezes, but the restart problem is still there...
