I recently bought a Seagate Barracuda 500 GB SATA (7,200 RPM) HDD. In BIOS it shows it as an SCSI (10,000 RPM). It only gives me 3 options - I want it to be SATA. My options are - AHCI (Currently what I have), IDE, or RAID. When it asked me at startup if I wanted it to be as IDE or AHCI, I clicked AHCI and now it doesn't ask me. How do I change it to SATA type?

I'm a little lost here... Your BIOS shows the drive's RPMs? I've yet to come across a BIOS (or drive) that supports such a feature, but I can't say it's not out there...
I do know some BIOS's emulate IDE, or even SATA as SCSI. However, if you research AHCI, it says it's "a hardware mechanism that allows software to communicate with SATA devices that are designed to offer features not offered by PATA controllers." So, I'm under the assumption this is what you would use to utilize the SATA drives.
Does the system work when AHCI is selected? Can you boot to windows and all?
