SD card not reading

This has happened to me before, but when i go to insert my SD card on a built in SD card reader, the green light comes on, but auto-play doesn't show up, and when i go to my computer to open it from there, it just sits there with the little dial glass spinning and stuff :/ i let it sit for longer than 1 hour before finally pulling it out, then it said: "please insert a drive into disk G:" but it does this to every one of my drives, except CD-ROM and DVD-ROM disc and hard drives, just removable discs.

Please help, been trying to send pictures to everyone in my family:(
