Hey all so i bought a new hard drive

http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=15_1086_210_212&item_id=042242

Which is suppose to be 3TB in size, and i understand that I must go through Seagate DiscWizard in order to access all 3TB because my motherboard BIOS doesn't support 3TB. The problem is that the drive is recognized only as 1863.04GB in both Disk Management and Seagate DiscWizard. When i click on Extended Capacity Manager it says the entire space is accessible that and there are no hard discs with MBR partition style larger than 2TB.

Well it's probably because your BIOS won't recognise a 3TB hard drive. Are there any updates for it that you can download for it which will allow it to recognise 3TB?

I don't see how the Seagate DiscWizard software is going to allow you to use all 3TB when your BIOS is limiting you to 2TB or something around that mark.

There aren't any updates that allow my motherboard to recognize 3TB hard drives, there was only some update in regards to 1TB hard drives. Also Seagate had a video on their website saying it could be done but no actual help with how to do it, i guess this is what i get for buying Seagate.

I have no idea how the DiscWizard software is supposedly capable of it either, however it says this on their website:

Seagate said:
"Go beyond 2TB with DiscWizard™ software

The sure way to get native access to hard drives bigger than 2TB is to adopt the new BIOS standard called UEFI. If you’re not ready for the new standard, Seagate provides an alternative.

Free DiscWizard™ software from Seagate provides you a means to effectively utilize your 3TB and 4TB Seagate Desktop HDDs, even with Windows XP and using the standard PC BIOS. Get your free copy to go beyond 2TB today!"

Could this work if i turned it into an external hard drive? Right now I'm just pissed off that what Seagate said on their website isn't the case.

The drive is not the problem, the problem is the motherboard is an oldish 775 socket, i don`t think there are many 775 socket motherboards that support 3tb drives.
