a gigabyte is 1000 megabytes, a terabyte is 1024 gigabytes
No.
1,024B = 1KB
1,024KB = 1MB
1,024MB = 1GB
1,024GB = 1TB

those are kibibytes, mebibytes, gibibytes, and tibibytes, not kilo, mega, giga, and tera, it's rules of 10's vs. 2's, decimal vs. binary
If it's just Microsoft, then how come when you buy a 1Gigabyte stick of memory, the BIOS also reads it as 1,024 Megabytes?just because microsoft is wrong doesn't make it right
Prefix Name SI Meaning Binary meaning Size difference
k kilo 103 = 10001 210 = 10241 2.40%
M mega 106 = 10002 220 = 10242 4.86%
G giga 109 = 10003 230 = 10243 7.37%
T tera 1012 = 10004 240 = 10244 9.95%
P peta 1015 = 10005 250 = 10245 12.59%
E exa 1018 = 10006 260 = 10246 15.29%
I really really really really hope you're being sarcastic here.those are kibibytes, mebibytes, gibibytes, and tibibytes, not kilo, mega, giga, and tera,
