search help

The other night I had the radio on the station was 1210 AM the name of the show is
coasttocoast

and it was Midnight here in the USA.

They had a woman talking about a Search Engan called I think
www.startsearch.com
or maybe
www.start4search.com

I go to the first one and it is a search page and it has a photo of a woman on the main page but I don't know if this is it.

She was saying how her search page does not keep Records of anyone who does searchs.
And the filterout Cookies.

And they let nothing get on your Computer that can be Tracked.

Can anyone help?
And they don't keep your iP address.

Where were you? That could let me know the station. And go from there?

Why would you want this? Never mind not my business. But you believe her? They might keep sloppy records but if you think this will protect your anonymity from anyone you are seriously looking to get yourself in trouble. It does not work like that.

But if you say where you were listening I will tell you. You don't have to give your home address just say within about 500/1000 miles.

I think you go that one wrong, one appears to be for porn and a lot of illegal activity. The other one, I don't know. I would not trust EITHER of those sites.

With a number of browsers having private browsing capability, why go to this particular search engine?

Filtering out content may seem a good idea but it limits the usefulness of many sites. Cookie managers like the one in CCleaner allow you to keep the ones you want and delete the rest. Unfortunately many that you would like to keep are often tracking cookies. There are other tools that can limit the information you provide.

Dude, if you're not doing anything illegal in your internet searches, then don't worry about it. Google and Bing and the works only use what you searched as a way to better their search engine and track how many people searched for that same thing; in the end helping us out, and making things interesting. It's illegal for them to keep anything personal, such as SS, Tampon Brand, etc. Google has been around since 1998, so they must be doing something right. Now what gets stored on your end having to do with Cookies is your ordeal..

It appears you have never lived in a country with an authoritarian regime that's going to be knocking on your door in the middle of the night.

If you think Google and the rest are your best friend, they are interested in peddling influence. Every time you open a Google page, you are being targeted with ads that people pay to have in your face. It's not a service for your benefit, it's a business that makes huge amounts of money from those trying to influence you. The consumer ultimately pays for that in the goods bought, just like any other advertising. My TV listing page has 4 organizations gathering data (including Google Analytics and the ever-present Doubleclick.net).

As far as anonymous surfing goes, do you go shopping with your name tag on your forehead? When I go to Amazon, I'm met with a bunch of targeted selections derived from past visits. That's kind of personal; they know who you are and what you are interested in. They are trying to sell you more stuff, not a helpful friend. It only needs one under-paid employee to sell the information, regulations be damned. Ever heard of Wiki-Leaks and the overwhelming shortage of personal integrity today?

Given the current trend to being able to opt out of tracking, you are in a minority of Internet users.

I guess my attitude is not any opposition or problem with the idea of being anonymous but a great defeatist belief that it is not possible in the big picture.

Well yeah, Google is out to make money. That's with every corporation, business, etc. If you really think that there is a conspiracy behind this whole company, than: 1. Don't shop at Amazon, and 2. Don't use Google, or the Internet for that matter. Of course Google uses advertisers to make money. In the end, that helps us out. If every company was small business, or had no interest in doing so, we would never advance as a society. So next time, stay on topic, and don't feed someone such as the OP propaganda that just isn't even remotely true. Oh, also lol, did you not read Amazon's privacy agreement before you purchased an item? It makes it legal for them to track what you purchased, because that's what they do, and of course it's regulated to prevent abuse. Google isn't even in the same field, and has nothing to do with what you posted.
