Seccurity for new computer

Hey all, I just got my first windows computer, and I have a few questions. I am a diehard Mac user, and have been using the same iBook for 3 years with no problems of any kind. However, my new college requires that I have a windows laptop, and since I'm not willing to run Bootcamp I went ahead and sprung for the college's computer deal. I now have a brand-new, untainted Lenovo R61u, and I'm trying to find out what I need to do to keep it clean. it comes preloaded with Etrust Antivirus. My main question is about anti-spyware and firewalls. I ran a search to see what firewall systems it has in place, and found the Windows firewall and a bunch of XML files with firewall names, ie McAfee_Personal_Firewall,Norton_Personal_Firewall, BlackICE_Firewall, etc. Are these actual programs? I can't find the actual applications, just those xml files. Lastly, will my Antivirus program defend against spyware, or will I need to find separate anti-spyware programs?

i recommend AVG 8.0 for Virus

CCleaner to keep the system clean.

and Comando as your firewall.

What Cohen said
+ I would add Spybot Search and Destroy, and you should be all set.
Firefox is assumed, of course.
