Second GPU not working

I recently had to remove my 2nd GPU from my computer to get to my USB headers to install a memory card reader. I am now checking in Device Manager and Speccy and my second GPU isn't showing up. I have it in the proper slot, the crossfire cable is attached, and the proper PCI-E PSU cables are in. I don't USE the second card at all, but I want to know what's going on. It is a HIS AMD Radeon 6900 card.

Card 2 is now pronounced dead. I got it wired properly and it isn't spinning it's fans or even loading it's software. I even tried it out in my older HP desktop. I am now the proud owner of an AMD Radeon - PaperWeight 2600 Series.

It doesn't really matter to me because I only use one display, and crossfiring them didn't make a big difference either.

And the one I still have is better than the one I lost. It's a 2GB SAPPHIRE.

I got some money for my birthday. I might spring for a lower-end card and crossfire it.

Can I run an AMD and a Nvidea card in crossfire or is it supposed to be an all-AMD setup?

If you're gonna buy anything to replace it you might as well sell your other 6950 and get something newer and faster. Radeon R9 280 or GTX 760 or something.
