Seeking Experienced Laptop User's Advice

I am looking to purchase a new laptop and I have one simple, yet very demanding necessity.

I currently own a Dell Inspiron 1318 PP25L. I purchased it two years ago because the specs were appropriate for my needs, its size was perfect, and, most importantly, its keyboard. Of ALL laptops in its size category, it was the only one with keys that, in my opinion, resembled (in touch, spacing, size, "resistance" when stroking) a standard Dell desktop keyboard (for instance the Dell SK-8115 keyboard). In fact, the keyboard was the reason for which I chose the laptop over all others.

I am looking to purchase a new laptop, and would prefer to stay with Dell. Unfortunately, most stores I have visited do not carry many Dells, nor do they carry any non-Dell laptops in the 13"-range with a comparable keyboard.

Can anyone recommend me a laptop filling my criteria for keyboard and size, with "standard" power. It can be a non-Dell.

Thanks for your help.

What is your price range? I have used Dells for almost 10 years and never had a problem with them. I recently bought a Sony Vaio and have been very impressed with it so this is what I am going to recommend for you. The link I am send you is for you to go through and customize it yourself, it is a 13". If you do not want to do that give me a price and I will find one online for you prebuilt.

You're probably going to be limited to online shopping for a 13" laptop as most stores won't carry too many, if any 13" models. The store I work at has 19 different laptops and none of them are 13", just not a popular enough size to carry in store. Not going to say it's impossible, and sorry that I can't speak more specifically to your question, but I thought I'd just let you know that finding a 13" on display somewhere isn't going to be easy, and I think Best Buy is the only place I've seen Dells on display, though not many...

I bought the previous one for $799 CDN and was satisfied in that range, though I believe laptops' prices have gone down an average of $100-$150 over the time expired since, so I would like to keep the total under $700.

Thanks for your responses. Others, please comment.
