It sounds like the system was a piece of crap based on the conclusion. I have never, ever in my life as a VAR delivered a system that required that kind of aftercare. Never. There's no excuse for it. Test the damn thing on the bench, and don't let it out of your sight until it's perfect. Your reputation demands it.
Edit: I've only ever had one problem, and that was with a PSU that was faulty. When it received sufficient current from the wall, such as at my office, it functioned perfectly. When the power was less than sufficient, at the client's office, the PSU malfunctioned. That was a pain in the keister. But other than that...
