Sell as is or for parts?

I was recently given a used laptop as a gift. This laptop is pretty cool, but after a while of being on it the screen turns black and it stops running even though the on light is still on. I have completely reset it and deleted apps. Nothing seems to help.
It's also a bit too big for my liking and I don't have the money to have it looked at. So, should I try selling as is or just selling for parts? I will answer any questions about the computer. I just want opinions.

My guess is that integrated video is overheating and shutting off display. Does the machine actually shut off or do you hear fans running, etc?

If it is not working properly you need to disclose that info if you sell it. Not only is it wrong to sell something that doesn't work, but its fraud and could come back to bite you in the ass.

If you really don't want it, either sell it as a non-working, 'as-is' unit or see about warranty that it may be under, if it's still semi-new?

Can you break down any specs at all, make? model #?

And I fully intended on disclosing all the information. I don't want to be one of those crappy people.
