selling a used Dell desktop??

I have a dell desktop that I want to sell.

The question is

It has a HD in it that is formatted.Do I want to do a clean install of Windows xp OS that I own or leave it empty.I am thinking that I could get more money for it if it has the OS installed on it.

Would I still be able to use the Windows OS # for my new computer?
 
Yes, you'd be much more apt to sell it with a copy of Windows loaded. And no, you can only use a product key on one machine.
 
not too be rude, but that is not true. You CAN load windows XP on how ever many systems you OWN, but you can still use the same key.
 
Well of course it's possible to load Windows on as many computers as you want, but besides being illegal, it will not activate.
 
Okay, first of all, his copy of Windows came with a Dell so it's OEM, and can't be installed on another machine, legally or not.

Second, my copy of Windows must only be 33% legal because MS will only let me have it on one machine.
 
Windows not detecting system fan on Dell

I don't have a lo of experience with Dell Towers.This is a older machine that came without a HD and I have no clue what the specs on it are other than it has a INtel proccessor of some sorts in it and only 256 ram.

Went to load Windows xp on a new HD and machine boots up and says
Does not detect system fan.

This dell seems to have a CPU fan and a green snorkel.Thats it.No place on the Mother Board for power for a fan.CPU fan is plugged into a spot on the MB that says Fan.


What do I do?

ok, you are right about OEM, thats true. And about the 33%, idk, maybe mine is different bc it says volume licensing on the top? i can make a pic if you dont believe me.

edit: I realized that my CD is special...lol..... i have a volume license which means i can install it on more than one machine....lol...sry for stating that you guys are incorrect.

@ camel lips: just format it and sell it without an OS, since its not that great of a machine, the price wont really differ.

I had changed out my mobo, and my old compaq recovery disks didnt work because the MoBo wasn't tatooed to work w/ it, so i had to buy the OEM. But what i did next may of been ilegal so im not gonna mention it
 
ebay that ish and talk it up, if i do remember some kid getting a ton of money for some POS dell he was selling. Just talk it up and make it sound amazing, it'll sell.

Im not trying to get rich off of it.$120 bucks to the first buyer.Nice little internet machine.

Dell Optiplex Gx150 mother board.
4 USB ports
20 GB HD.

soon as I get to 100 posts I will list it here.
 
or you could sell it on ebay for more, as said before. As long as you can talk it up and say how amazing it is, people will jump on it.
