Sempron with DDR2 800?

Just wondering if a Sempron (AM2) processor will run with DDR2 800 memory. I noticed that in AMD's list of compatible memory for the Sempron line they list nothing high than DDR2 667. Would the RAM just automatically drop down to a lower clock speed?

If it makes a difference here are the two particular products I am looking at.

An odd combination I know. I will be building a computer in a month or so and I am going back and forth on the CPU. I am also considering the Athlon 64 3800+ If anyone has the urge to go through another newbie's list of components to check compatibility let me know.

It's the montherboard you need to worry about, not the processor itself.

I thought perhaps with AMD putting the memory controller in the CPU that it would be the RAM/CPU compatibility that you would have to be careful about.

Yes, ddr2 800 will work fine in that mobo.

DDR2 800 will work on the board but the sempron will run it a 667

It's the montherboard you need to worry about, not the processor itself.

The memory controller is on the processor. Plus even athlons with odd number X that wont divide even will run it slower

Thank you all for the help. If I were to go with the Sempron, I probably wouldn't mind the RAM running at 667 for a little while until I upgrade the CPU. So as it is I will probably just go with Althon or Sempron based on how greedy I am feeling when I order.
