Sennheisers

I've been looking into buying a nice set of Sennheiser headphones, and I've been hearing a lot about different ones to buy.
On newegg.com the HD555s (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826106392) are $99 and so are the HD 280PRO (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826106328), but I don't know if these are the ones I should get.
I'm looking to spend about $100 US on a pair of nice headphones. Thanks.
*EDIT* They will be used for gaming (CSS) and some music, maybe with a sound card.

If it's mostly gaming then it won't really matter - it's not like you need good honest sound quality for it. Either pair will no doubt be fine, I would recommend getting out and buying/trying from shops though if possible.

I paid a couple of hundred pounds for my HD250s Sennheisers a few years back and they're not very good, fine for games - loads of clear bass, not harsh, and you'll destroy your ears long before they distort, but no mid frequencies.

I'd recommend trying whatever sony do around that price range - every pair I hear seems really natural

You can't go wrong with Sennheisers in general but I'd recommend you finding a store that keeps those 2 in stock and listen for yourself. HD280Pros are better for some listeners and HD555s for others.
