SEO - Writing SEO articles?

How effective is writing SEO articles in driving traffic to a website and in increasing it's pagerank; and why? (About) How long should one anticipate to wait before seeing change in traffic analytics or change of the pagerank for the website?

Also what are some other good strategies (maybe outside the box thinking - not just regular link building) in driving traffic to a website or increasing that websites pagerank?

depends on the content of your article. but a good article, with new sets o information will definitely be effective for your site. you need to be patient in waiting for PR updates, though I don't think major PR updates is coming..

you can try social media on driving traffic.

Writing seo articles is useful - but don't over do it - In other words,

write for human not for search engines

. Your main focus here is to write useful and meaningful content and at the same time insert a few targeted keywords (1 or 2) here and there in the article.

You should make sure that your keyword appears in:
1. page url
2. page title
3. h1 tag
4. at least once in the article.

this is not the end - as the next step is "link building" (in my opinion the hardest part of seo).
