seperate tuner or all in one

alright im thinking of getting a tv tuner, but i also want to upgrade my video card since i am only using integrated with 64mb shared mem. what do you think of the ati all in wonder 9600, for 2006? the price range is alright thinking of around 200 bucks ill invest into it

I'd go with a separate tuner. You can get much better ones, normally, than what's intergrated. It might be slightly more in the long run, but the quality and features would be better... I don't think(but I'm probably wrong) that most All in ones have true onboard MPEG2 compression, and I hear some iffy comments about their quality.

The brand I found more reliable then even Creative sound cards for pci devices was an Ultra TV PCI350 model made by AverMedia. http://www.avermedia-usa.com/2005home/product/tvtuner/tvtuner.shtml They also carry usb and card bus types as well. The software often includes a built in vcr for saving programs to mpeg II format for later viewing.
