Seperate Wireless internet and LAN

Hello!

Hoping someone can help me as I have little networking experience. First let me tell you what I am trying to do.

I am using my parents wireless internet that is coming off of their router and being picked up by my PCI wireless adapter card. I want to set up my own LAN using my router that is hardwired to my computer. The purpose of this is to run my xbox off my lan. Is this possible? I have tried setting it up myself and it always tries to connect to the internet through my router rather then my PCI card.

Here are some details about my system. Let me know if you need more info:

Windows XP
the router on my pc is a DLINK DI-524
my wireless adapter card is a PCI Rosewill RNX-G300EX

Thanks in advance for any assistance you can offer!

What happens when you disable the PCI card? I have no idea really, but that would be my first step in trying to do it. Maybe there's a setting that controls which connection you connect to first? When I was running wireless and wired (Often moving my gateway (modem and router combined) it usually didn't connect to the wireless if I had an ethernet plugged in. My wireless adapter is USB though...

Hmm I will give that a try and see. I did manage to get both the router and the wireless card working at the same time by removing the TCP/IP thing from the wired connection. Now I have a different problem because it won't let me share the wireless connection. It says that the IP address needed for sharing is already in use? Gah! I wish I new more about this...
