Serial ATA150 Data Cable and raid questions

Well, I placed my order for my two 250gb hdd's today, but I have a problem. The drives are OEM, so they don't come with a data cable, and only one data cable came with my mobo. So, I was wondering where I could find/buy a Serial ATA150 data cable? Would a store like RadioShack or BestBuy (I have BestBuy gift cards) have them, at a reasonable price? I found them for $1.50 each and free shipping online (http://www.directron.com/satacable.html), but there's a $3 order minimum, so I need to buy at least two.

BTW, sorry if I put this in the wrong section, I wasn't sure if I should put it here, or in the buy/sell subforum.

EDIT: also, I want to have one virtual drive on my comp (out of the two 250gb's), and I've been debating which to use: RAID 0 or JBOD. Which is better/ more practical?

Why not get a cable from say newegg. Or even just try to find someone local. Hehe, if I'd of know this a few days ago, my room mate just went back to connecticut. I could of asked him to give you an SATA cable :P

As for RAID, I'm still not 100% sure what JBOD is, but after a quick wiki lookup, it seems RAID's the better choice when you have two of the same drive.

I looked on Newegg, but they're cables are all like $3, plus $5 shipping. I really don't want to pay that much for something that probably cost them $0.05 and $1 to ship.

JBOD, or "just a bunch of drives" is the opposite of partitioning. You take multiple physical drives, and make one logical drive. RAID 0 is similar, only it splits the data between the two drives, theoretically making the seek times faster.

Friends computer? freebie from a store? they arent a big deal... and how did your mobo only come with one? i got two with my "old" A8N.

none of my friends are really computer literate, and probably don't just have extra sata cables lying around.

but a store just gives them away for free? what, just walk in and say, "can i have a free sata cable?"

also, i don't know how my mobo only came with 1, but it did. it's a budget msi mobo...if that explains anything (i checked in the users guide- they only give you one. it's not like i lost one somewhere, btw).

Well then i would just get a cheapo from RadioShack or something. I dont know where they have them cheap.

I was looking around on radioshack.com, but didn't find any. Or if I did, they were really overpriced. What about that $1.50 one in my first post?

SATA should not run you more than a few dollars for a cable.

As for RAID, depends on your needs. I am going to doubt you need to utilize a RAID unless you are

3D rendering
Video/Audio Editing
GINORMUS data base work (gigs and gigs and gigs)
high end graphics
high end physics

If you just game/use office apps/email/internet then a RAID would do you no good, unless you wanted mirroring for back up.
