Serious Error..

.., it seems every time I go to shut down / standby / restart my computer or even pressing ALT + F4, my computer has the little eggtimer thing showing something is happening. After 20 minutes of my computer doing nothing, my start bar disappeared etc I am forced to turn it off by the switch and have had to do this recently.

Any thoughts?
 
Ran ADAWARE-SE and had a tracking cookie, that was all. So I'll report back tomorrow morning whether it works or not!

Try Defragging like Kornowski said. Otherwise I wouldn't know what to do, you might want to try reinstalling windows. Not wiping the hard drive or anything, but doing a recovery install.
 
Sounds like something not shuting down, have you ran a anti virus scan
As far as defraging its at Start-Accessories-System Tool-Disk Defragmenter, and no it doesnt remove your data.

It should not take that long for a 74 gb, depends on how bad it is, from a few minutes to a hour, you might just have a driver hanging when you shut down, have you updated them all.

did you actually defrag it after you analyzed it? Cause that screenshot shows you analyzed it but not actually defraged.
 
edit// i defragged my raptor and still have the problem! Thinking it might have something to do with my theme, so I'm re-installing it like at the start. (worked fine)

edit2/ it now works! i re-installed vista transformation pack and all works fine. thanks!
